Restaurant data on DineCircle — names, addresses, coordinates and cuisines — comes from OpenStreetMap and its contributors. © OpenStreetMap contributors.

This data is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL). You are free to copy, distribute, transmit and adapt it, as long as you credit OpenStreetMap and its contributors. If you alter or build upon this data, you may distribute the result only under the same licence.

Full details of the licence terms and copyright are available at openstreetmap.org/copyright.

Discover, the group pick builder and the restaurant owners' claim search can also search Google Places, on request. Those results are shown in their own labelled section, separate from DineCircle's own restaurant data, and are never stored — except a place someone explicitly chooses to add, which is then kept as their own entry.

For members who are signed in, a restaurant's page and its details on a vote page also show its rating on Google, fetched from Google Places each time it is shown and never stored. Only Google's identifier for the place is kept, so it can be found again.

Brand logos shown on Discover cards come from Wikimedia Commons, via each brand's own Wikidata entry. Shown here for a real branch of that brand (nominative use), under the licence Commons itself lists for the file:

About the data

4 527 of 9 430 restaurants have a cuisine we recognise, and choosing one on Discover hides the rest. 5 004 carry a cuisine tag in OSM — the 477 difference is ours, not theirs: tags we have not taught the app to read yet.

Dietary tags (vegetarian, vegan) are sparse on OpenStreetMap. Discover's dietary filters show only places positively tagged, so they list the places OSM knows about, not every place that qualifies.

2 of 9 430 restaurants have a price so far, from diners answering the price question when they rate a visit. Discover's price filter never hides a place with no price.

1 of 9 430 restaurants have been rated. Discover's rating filter uses public ratings only — not your own or your circle's — and never hides an unrated place.
